HICKLING WI – Inspiring Women

This branch of the WI was started in 1947 and has been operating continuously since then.    It now meets in Hickling Village Hall, the 3rd Thursday of the month from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm.   If you are over 18 and would like to join the largest women’s organisation in the UK, be informed on a wide range of topics, and meet women with numerous skills, work and professional backgrounds and interests, this may be what you are looking for.    Forget the old image, our aim now is fun and friendship.  Being able to make a sponge cake or marmalade is not an entry requirement,  and the only time they maybe made is for fund-raising, and nobody forces you then either.   It is an organisation which is dynamic, keeping up with a rapidly changing world.

Below is the programme for 2016 – 2017.    Please note we have various coach trips which are very interesting and enjoyable.   The one very different event is the trip to Skegness.    We decided we would relive our youthful visits to the seaside, paddling in the sea, thrilled by the funfair, eating fish and chips out of newspaper, picnic on the beach etc.    Yes, it will be hot!!!!!   Anything is possible in our WI, trips to the cinema and theatre, lunch and supper events, walks, and easy access to a wide range of activities county-wise, national and even international.   Next year there is a trip to Australia being organised by HQ.
