Residents urged to have their say on Local Plan Part 2

Rushcliffe Borough Council is asking residents and interested parties for their thoughts on Local Plan Part 2 that identifies key housing allocations in the borough over the next decade.

Central government requires the Borough to build 13,150 new homes by 2028 and the six week consultation is now seeking views on the proposals that identify these non-strategic housing designations.

Anyone can submit their representations at www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/planningpolicy until 5pm on

June 28 and all will be submitted with the Plan and supporting documents for

independent examination by a Planning Inspector.

The Plan includes policies and proposals for housing, Green Belt, employment, retail, open spaces and nature conservation.

The new non-strategic sites could deliver a total of 2,700 new homes in Bunny, Cotgrave, Cropwell Bishop, East Bridgford, Gotham, Keyworth, Radcliffe-on-Trent, Ruddington and Sutton Bonington.

On April 26 the Council passed the Draft Plan and the Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning Cllr Roger Upton is encouraging all parties to make their views known.

He said: “This consultation period is the step before we submit the Plan to the Secretary of State for examination by an Inspector in the summer.

“We’re keen everyone has the opportunity to review these plans as we plan to build the most new homes of any borough in the East Midlands between now and 2028.

“In the autumn we anticipate an examination hearing and this will be an opportunity for all interested parties to be involved and present individual concerns for consideration by the Inspector.

“Following examination the Council will consider any required modifications and if the Inspector then determines the plan is sound and legally compliant, it could be adopted by the Council at the end of the year.”

The Council are also consulting on a draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI), which sets out its approach to community involvement in planning policy preparation and the determination of planning applications.
